Risk Assessment of Ecotoxicity of Benzo(a)pyrene, Fluorethene and Phenanthrene in Tianjin Wastewater Irrigated Area

Abstract: A probability risk assessment method was applied for characterizing ecotoxicity of three PAHS to various species. The relative risk of these chemicals was also investigated based on cumulative probability distribution curves, which were generated based on both exposure and acute toxicity data. Risk at different exposure levels was compared using joint probability curves. The results indicated that among the three PAHs studied, overall risk of phenanthrene is the highest, benzo(a)pyrene is the lowest. While at the lower exposure level (percent of species affected less than 20%), risk of benzo(a)pyrene is higher than that of the other two chemicals.
