Abstract: Matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) is the most important proteolytic enzyme with the function of degrading extracellular matrix, and the changes of its contents are closely related with tumor invasion and metastasis. MMP and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase (TIMP) are both involved in the synthesis and degradation of extracellular matrix. The imbalance between MMP and TIMP will induce tumor invasion and metastasis. Endometrial carcinoma is one of the most common malignant tumors in female. Studies on the relationship between endometrial carcinoma and MMP as well as TIMP will be significant for the early diagnose and treatment, prognosis evaluation and prevention of endometrial carcinoma.
