Primary study on compression technology in wood of Populus tomentosa

Abstract: In this study, the technology experiment of compression wood of fast- growing Populus tomentosa, which is widespread planted in Hebei province, was carried out, and the properties of compressed wood were tested. The result showed: when wood was soft with the microwave after saturated by water before hot pressed, the temperature is about 180 ℃, the presses time is 2 h, and compressing ratio was 50% or so, the properties of compression wood was better than untreated wood.
