Efficiency optimization control for aero electric propulsion system

Abstract: A loss minimization current control (LMC) is presented for an electric aero-propulsion system with limited power supply. A "Γ" equivalent circuit of permanent magnet synchnonous motors(PMSM), taking the core losses into account and its state equations are proposed. The optimal magnetizing current, which decreases the electric magnetic losses and maximizes electric machine efficiency are derived. The relationship between the copper losses and iron losses and the electromagnetic constraints are analyzed in detail. Additionally, under the harsh environment, the iron loss equivalent resistance varies and its influence on LMC is discussed. Finally, the Matlab simulation and experimental results based on dSPACE show that the total electromagnetic loss decreases and operating efficiency is enhanced in comparison with traditional imd=0A.
