Abstract: 文化专有项翻译从来都不是语言层面上的简单转换,译者在文化专有项翻译活动中表现出文化建构的能动性.如<红楼梦>两个经典英译本中"红"字的翻译,霍克舍弃了"红"字所包含的文化意象,将其换成了英语国家人们所熟悉和能接受的"绿色"和"金色",而杨氏夫妇在翻译"红"字时基本采用直译来保存"红"字所包含的特有的文化意蕴,就显示出不同的翻译策略.
