Abstract: Laparoscopic gastrectomy (LG) is associated with less postoperative pain, quicker recovery of gastrointestinal function, faster oral intake, earlier discharge from hospital, and comparable complications to open gastrectomy(OG).Especially for early gastric cancer, LG can get an radical oncologic outcome as conven-tional OG.However, with increasing of laparoscopic experience and improvement in instrumentation, more ad-vanced gastric cancers and more extensive procedures such as laparoscopy-assisted D2 dissection are becoming more common.Further large muhieentre randomized controlled trials are still required to delineate the long-term outcomes.
