Abstract: The nutritional ecology of ungulates is a rising subject,which is also a branch subject that mainly studies on the quantity and quality of food for animals,the nutritional adaptation and the functional mechanism of population characteristics of nutrition.The basic contents of this subject are composed of the interrelationships and the action mechanisms between the ungulate population and food resources in their environments.In this paper,We reviewed the advances in the study of nutritional ecology of ungulates from the following aspects:the food habits,the evaluation of the nutritional condition and food nutritional quality,the digestion and energy metabolism,the foraging behavior,the nutritional carrying capacity and the trophic niche.
